Shri Balvant Rao Ghate Prashala; a secondary school was started in 1989 in village Yavli in the district of Solapur. The school has classes from 5^th to 10^th standard and has more than 250 students studying in the school. The school though received government grant soon, barely had basic amenities and educational facilities such as laboratory, library etc. The school was operating out of a makeshift shed with GI sheeting. Prabhakar Foundation adopted the school in 2009 with a mission to transform the school into a model school with most modern facilities that can be made available to a rural school.

To start with, it was necessary to construct a permanent building for the school. With the help of generous donations from well-wishers, a modern RCC building admeasuring 4500 sq ft was constructed. Construction of the building was started in November 2009 and the building was inaugurated on 29^th January 2011. The building is well equipped with six classrooms, laboratory, library room, staff room, administration room, etc. Total cost of construction of the building was about Rs. 25 lakh.

In the subsequent years, many more facilities were added to the school. A multipurpose building was constructed for students to have their mid-day meal as well as use it for larger gatherings of the school. Separate toilet buildings were constructed for girls and boys with proper sanitation facilities. A borewell was constructed to provide drinking water to the school. Water in this area is very hard and is not safe for drinking. Standalone 100 lpm water purification plant was installed with RO and UV facilities. Other facilities installed include barbed wire fencing, solar electrification of the building, modern laboratory facility, playground & sports facilities. Year on year, the students are provided with school uniforms, curriculum books for students of 9^th & 10^th students etc. Attempts are made to improve quality of education by organizing teacher’s training programs, special coaching to slow learning students, etc.

The school has evolved into a school into a model school in the district.
