Spirituality through Humanity
Shri Balwant Rao Girirao Ghate (1902 – 1989); fondly known as Anna Saheb or Anna, was born in a well-to-do family in erstwhile Nizam state. Anna Saheb; a bright student who pursued the study of law and worked in the judiciary of Nizam state.
He was committed to social causes for which he took an early retirement at the age of fifty five. He nurtured his passion for varkari sampradaya. His contribution to the research on literature and philosophy of Saint Eknath maharaj is a pioneering piece of work. He struck a right balance of worldly life and spirituality in the wake of the teachings and philosophy of Saint Eknath.
Annasaheb is my grandfather. Saint Tukaram says, पंढरीची वारी आहे माझे घरी, आणिक न करी तिर्थ व्रत || माझ्या वडिलांनी मिरासी गा देवा, तुझे चरण सेवा पांडुरंगा || When the inspiration is right in front of your eyes, why go around in search of a role model? Commitment to the society is inheritance to the family. I pray god to be capable of taking the mission further. I hope that a brief life story of Anna Saheb presented in this write up will serve as an inspiration for the readers too.
